About Dr. Hood

Michael Hood, MD, is a board-certified member of the Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), Southern Orthopaedic Association, Mid-America Orthopaedic Association, Arkansas Orthopaedic Society, and the Memphis Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Hood practices General Orthopaedics with an emphasis on knee and shoulder procedures, regenerative orthopaedics, knee joint preservation surgery and patient-specific partial and total knee replacement. Dr. Hood enjoys providing care to local military veterans through the VA community referral program.

In 1998, he graduated as valedictorian of his high school class which led to his acceptance of the Cecil C. Humphrey's Presidential Scholarship. Shortly after, Dr. Hood enrolled at the University of Memphis. There he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in 2002.

He completed his medical education at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2006 before accepting a position at The University of Missouri Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program in Columbia, MO. He also completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN in 2012.

Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Hood, a proud West Memphis native, opened his practice, Delta Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, in West Memphis, AR. Along with Fenter Physical Therapy, Dr. Hood built the Delta Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine, & Rehab Institute; offering patients the ability to seek medical treatment and receive their physical therapy all under one roof.

By 2018 he was named Physician of the Year by the St. Francis Bartlett hospital. In 2019, he opened a second location in Collierville, TN and incorporated osteoporosis screening and treatment into the practice.

Dr. Hood actively serves as adjunct faculty for The New York Institute of Technology - College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University. In addition, the practice enjoys a collaborative clinical agreement with The University of Central Arkansas School of Nursing.

He provides sports medicine coverage for several local school systems including West Memphis, Marion, Earle, Helena-West Helena, and Forrest City. He is the team Orthopaedic surgeon for the Arkansas State-Midsouth Greyhounds men and women's basketball teams.

Dr. Hood and his wife, Ketrina, have four children: Olivia, Jackson, Annabelle, and Charlie. He and his family currently reside in Collierville, TN, and their children attend Briarcrest Christian School.
